The first US transcontinental flight was flown by Calbraith Perry Rodgers in 1911 and Fort Worth was one of the cities that he landed in during the journey. Ryan Place commemorated the landing of the "Vin Fiz Flyer" on Saturday, 15, 2011.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that Rodgers landed in "Ryan's Pasture" at 4:15. A reenactment of the arrival of the "Vin Fiz" was created by pilot Vance Duffy flying over Ryan Place in his PT 17 Stearman at 4:15 during the centennial event.
